Volunteer Position Description
General Centre Volunteers

Title: Special Event Volunteer

Purpose
  To assist The 519 with its special events on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications
· Willingness to take direction.
· Troubleshooting skills.
· Reachable by phone or email
· Excellent interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
· Must be able to lift items such as chairs/tables or other objects with assistance

Responsibilities
· Assist with setup/takedown of event
· Troubleshoot any issues that arise report them to the staff on duty
· Duties as assigned particular to the event
· Stay for the duration of the event

Orientation/Training
  Special Event volunteers receive training from the Volunteer Coordinator. Orientation will be provided by the staff/volunteers on duty at the event.

Hours
  Volunteers are booked on a call-in basis depending on their availability and interest.

Commitment
  A minimum of 6 months. Volunteers who turn down shifts for six (6) consecutive months must speak with the volunteer coordinator.

Supervisor
  The Volunteer Coordinator supervises Special Event volunteers. The staff on duty provides support and direction.

Travel
  Volunteers who are required to attend The 519 and then travel to another location for a special event will be reimbursed for their travel expenses at the most cost-effective rate.
