Latine Community Consultations
CINCO-UM-NUEVE (Five One and Nine in Spanish and Portuguese) is a series of community consultation sessions focused on supporting 2SLGBTQ+ and gender-expansive Latine communities. Let’s explore our histories, and plan for the future!
This gathering will center queer and trans communities with roots to what is colonially known as Latin America, including Indigenous, Afro-latine, Portuguese/Spanish-speaking communities, and beyond. It is part of our efforts to create services that are based on community needs, and grounded in real life experiences of Latine people. Future include gatherings, workshops, language and advocacy support.
We will send out a zoom link upon registration for those joining remotely!
We’ll talk about:
• What programs and services are missing for 2SLGBTQ+ Latine people in Toronto.
• How does isolation affect you, and what do you need for your health and well-being? How can we support your activism? How can we come together and connect?
•Telling the stories, intersectional experiences and histories of Latine 2SLGBTQ+ community members across generations, genders and orientations, and informed by the impacts of colonialism and resistance of Afro and Indigenous communities from the diaspora.
