The 519 Education and Training Facilitator, Susan Gapka commenting on the impact of the Ministry's announcement.
On November 6th 2015, The Minister of Health and Long-Term Care announced an intention to expand access to referrals for gender affirming surgery for trans people in Ontario. The government is proposing to allow all qualified health care providers across the province to refer patients for surgery.
For the next 45 days, community members are being invited to provide comments on the proposed amendments to Regulation 552 of the Health Insurance Act.

Rainbow Health Ontario have provided the following guidance if you are currently on the CAMH Waitlist:
'We advise that you do NOT take yourself off the CAMH waitlist. As more information becomes available, we advise you to talk to your family doctor about the changes and ask to make a plan for when they come into effect.'
