Local Couple Host Wedding Crasher Queens to support The 519

Toronto – When Pip Hamilton and Alex Josselyn got engaged in July 2016, they knew they didn’t want to hold a traditional wedding reception. They were looking to make a difference – and they saw The 519 as the perfect organization to do it with.

“We are passionate about queer issues and it was actually mutual drag queen friends who brought us together,” says Alex, who works in the film and television industry. “So we thought, why not bring two things important to us together and give back to our community by supporting The 519.”

Pip and Alex conceived a wholly original way to celebrate their wedding on April 22 – hosting a glittery drag-studded show as their official wedding reception and as a fundraiser for The 519. Wedding Crasher Queens will take place at The 519 on April 22 beginning at 8pm.

“We were amazed when they came to talk to us about their idea,” says John R. Farrell, Director of Philanthropy at The 519. “Their enthusiasm was infectious and their passion for community came shining through. We were so honoured that they thought of The 519 for their big day.”

Featuring 19 of Toronto's hottest Drag Queens, Wedding Crasher Queens is open to the public.

Purchase advance tickets online ($15)

"100% proceeds from ticket and bar sales at the event will go to support the 519,” says Pip, an Anglican Minister in the diocese of Toronto.
