Call for Nominations – The 519 Annual General Meeting 2023

The 519 is currently seeking candidates to join its Board of Management. Ideal candidates possess a robust mix of skills, knowledge and experience, and reflect the diversity of the communities that The 519 works with.

Please be advised that the Board is proposing amendments to the by-laws that would change Board member terms from 2 years to 4 years, therefore successful applicants would be appointed for 4-year terms (September 2023-September 2027).

In order to be elected to our Board of Management, the nominee and nominators (2) must be Members of The 519. Membership is the best way for you to show your support for The 519. Your involvement helps keep our community vibrant, diverse, and connected.

Recruitment Priorities

Priorities include continuing to advance the representation of members from equity-seeking communities, including:

  • Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) communities
  • Older 2SLGBTQ+ adults
  • Trans / Non-binary people
  • 2SLGBTQ+ people with disabilities
  • Women

Skills gained through a variety of experiences, including lived experience, in at least one of the following priority areas are considered an asset:

  • Board leadership, development and governance
  • Legal and financial literacy
  • Fundraising and philanthropy
  • 2SLGBTQ+ government relations and advocacy
  • Community services

We recognize that structural barriers shape experiences, qualifications and a sense of capacity. We encourage people to apply even if you feel that the position may be a stretch. The Board is committed to supporting new members through orientation, training, and on-going mentoring.
