June 22-25, 2017

Toronto – Kicking off their 2017 Volunteer Recruitment Campaign, The 519 calls on community members to show their love by volunteering at the 2017 Green Space Festival, taking place June 22–25.

“Volunteering at Green Space Festival is a truly wonderful way to give back to our community during Toronto Pride celebrations,” says Jacob Porpossian, Chair of the 2017 Green Space Festival. “By volunteering with The 519 during Green Space, community members can play a direct role in helping to support The 519’s vital year-round programs and services.”

Beyond serving as The 519’s largest annual community engagement activity, The 519’s Green Space Festival is also its most critical fundraising initiative of the year, raising over $2.1 million in support of our community programs and services since the Festival was launched in 2009. From 2009 to 2016, volunteers contributed a remarkable $525,000 in volunteer time.

Available volunteer roles at Green Space Festival include Bar Service (smart service certification required), Token Sales, Food Service, Harm Reduction, Volunteer Check In, Welcome Host, TreeHouse Party team and Bank team.

All returning volunteers are invited to sign up today.

Community members interested in learning more about volunteering at our Green Space Festival can attend an Information Session being hosted at The 519 on Wednesday, March 15 between 6 – 8 PM.

“We can promise our volunteers an amazing experience,” says Osmel Guerra Maynes, Specialist, Volunteer and Community Engagement. ”You will make great new friends and join with other community-minded volunteers who are making a big difference at The 519.”
