The 519 A2J Case Support Program is tailored to support 2SLGBTQIA+ low-income Black, Indigenous and racialized people who are navigating the criminal, family or other intersecting legal systems.
The 519 A2J Case Support Program can accompany clients to hearings and meetings with lawyers, assist with completing forms, assembling paperwork and provide support while navigating the justice system, as well as assist clients who need support accessing social and health services. This holistic, full wrap-around support model recognizes the interdependence of the issues facing our clients and addresses the social determinants of health.
The case support program aims to facilitate a more fair, relevant, and accessible justice system to people facing intersecting oppressions due to race, age, socio-economic status, ability, mental health status, housing status and immigration status. This program will build the knowledge base of 2SLGBTQ+ community members about how to identify and respond to common legal issues, reduce common and complex barriers to accessing legal support, and build the capacity of lawyers and trusted intermediaries across Ontario to provide 2SLGBTQ+ inclusive services and supports related to and/or alongside legal needs.
