Are you fed up with a system that wasn’t built for you? Are you looking to build the skills and join a community that can help you make a change?

Calling all 2SLGBTQ+, BIPOC youth and allies (ages 14-19) in the Greater Toronto Area who have a passion for social justice and interest in grassroots advocacy. Building Power: Youth Advocacy Project is an opportunity for youth to build their power through growing advocacy, leadership, and organizing skills.

We’re building a movement of youth who are ready to fight for justice and a better world. Does that sound like you? Join us!

2SLGBTQ+, BIPOC youth face deep-rooted, systemic barriers due to their intersectional identities. But our histories of fighting for justice show us that when we work together, we can win. Whether you’re interested in queer, trans, and 2-spirit issues, climate justice, economic fairness, safe access to healthcare, housing, or anything else that your community deserves, we want to support and work with you. Through skills building, networking, workshops, and paid internships, together we can build our power to make real change for our communities.

Youth Advocacy Training Program (Program Paused)

Wednesdays, 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm

The training program focuses on building hard and soft advocacy and organizing skills, social justice awareness and education, and broader skills development. We will work with participants to co-develop the curriculum to meet your needs and interests; including participation in monthly field trips or social action events.

The program will end with a month-long paid summer placement/internship opportunity in areas of advocacy with a partner organization in a subject area that you are most interested in.

This program is free; all 2SLGBTQ+ BIPOC youth and allies ages 14-19 are invited to apply.

Participants will receive a $500 honorarium at the end of the program. Each participant is provided with a meal and single-use presto tickets each session.
